A CARE home is offering respite to those living with dementia – and to their families – with one-week free respite care if you book a three week stay.
There are thousands of people living in the UK who care for their loved one in their own home, and if that person is living with Dementia the pressure and worry can be difficult.
To help with this, the team at the Manton Heights Care Centre, off Manton Lane in Bedford is providing an opportunity for the main carer to have a break and to recharge their batteries.
Home Manager Rob Ashton said “On many occasions I receive calls from people who are so exhausted and so worried that they are at breaking point.
“Every carer deserves a break and that is why I decided to help financially by giving one-week free respite care if you book a three week stay.
“It will give the resident an opportunity to settle down and adjust to a slightly different environment, however, I do suggest they bring with them some personal items like, photographs, books and favourite home comforts as it can contribute to a smooth transition from home to home”
In a recent report from the Care Quality Commission the centre was given a ‘Good’ rating – with praise for how it handles falls, the level of care given and the adequate level of staffing on site.
One resident said: “”They always make sure I have my frame with me,” and another added: “They help me to remember to put on my slippers so I don’t fall.”
And in relation to staff numbers a resident told inspectors: “I know if I need them they will be there.”
